Our Construction Techniques
LVL Floor System
We construct all of our floor systems out of LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber). We purchase these 9 ½” x 1 ¾” x 60’ length. By using this engineered lumber, we are able to cut our rim joists & floor joists out of a single piece of lumber. This technique ensures that we are building the most solid pier and beam home possible.
Advantech Subfloor & Adhesive
We space our LVL floor joists 24” o/c. We use 1-1/8 ” tongue & groove Advantech brand flooring & adhesive. This product has superior moisture resistance, is precisely engineered, and offers a 500 day no sand guarantee. We glue, nail, and screw the entire floor with 2 ½” screws.
Wall System
All exterior walls are constructed of 2″x4″ PET Hem-Fir studs 16″ oc. Top plates are double and sole plates are single. LVL headers over all load bearing windows and doors. Exterior walls are sheathed on the outside with 7/16″ thick Advantech Zip Wall System, with all joints taped. Interior walls are 2″x4″ Hem-Fir PET studs 16″ oc. All door and window openings are double studded.
Insulation System
Our standard insulation system is open-cell spray foam sprayed to an approximate thickness of 5-6″ covering the complete underside of the decking, the rafters and gable end walls. Our wall insulation is Cellulose, installed using the damp glue method, and yields an R-Value of 15. All penetrations through the exterior walls, ceilings or floors are sealed tight with spray foam. Under floor insulation, closed cell sprayed 1’’ thick under floor, is also available for an upgrade.
Custom Cabinets
All of our cabinets are custom built and all wood with a choice of painted or stained. Cabinet doors are custom built with shaker style doors and soft close concealed hinges. All drawers feature full extension drawer guides.
Foundation
We dig and pour the perimeter footing as well as two center girders. We pour #3000 psi concrete with two bars of ½” Rebar. The front and back stem walls are filled solid and the exterior foundation walls of the home are finished with stucco. Ready Built Homes can also be placed over full or partial basements.
House Moving
To transport a new home we have to keep the overall width of the living area no more that 28’ wide. The Roof pitch on a home that is moved must also be no greater than a 4:12. HRBH will inspect your site prior to home construction.
